11 September - Lake Inle (Myanmar/Burma)

A visit to the Phaung Tawoo Temple was interesting in that it was the ‘water peoples temple’ for those who worked on the lake. Each year two of the images are processed round the lake on boats during a month long festival in November.

Fishing is one of the main occupations on the lake. The fishermen have a particular way of rowing with one hand and one leg so that they have a hand free to put out the net.
