Sometimes we really do live the high life! Finally arriving at the Bali Dwipa Hotel at midnight, with the clock change of one hour forward to 1am in the morning, it was straight to bed and in the morning waking up to see the filthy room. Madventure had excelled themselves again! (To jump forward a few days, when everyone had left for Darwin our illustrious leader and her item moved into another hotel as they considered that the Bali Dwipa Hotel was not good enough for them. Hypocrites that they were, together with Madventure!). Suprise, suprise, breakfast was included in the nightly cost of about £2 per person, this consisting of two pieces of toast (which were actually very nice and hot), butter, jam and tea. Anything else had to be paid for.
I did very little in Bali as I only had two days there as time was needed to arrange transportation in Australia and Papua New Guinea, places I will be travelling round once this trip is over. Bali did not impress me very much anyway as it was streets of shops selling rubbish and tat and drunken people wandering the streets from midday to untold hours. Night time was noisy and hot and generally the haunt of no-one over 30 years of age, not my scene at all. All sorts of drugs and services were available on the street, more than I had come across in other countries.
There were a number of Hindu temples in the city, mostly very small and not named. The carvings in the temples were very interesting and I enjoyed looking at them.
